SAFCEI hybrid AGM - 27 August 2024

  • Published:

Please join us on 27 August 2024 at 4:30 for 5:00 pm (SAST) for our hybrid Annual General Meeting (AGM) where we will be sharing highlights and achievements from the past year. The hybrid AGM will be held in person in Cape Town at the Homecoming Centre and online via Zoom.

We are thrilled to share that this year’s AGM keynote speaker is Nonhle Mbuthuma, founder of the Amadiba Crisis Committee and this year's co-recipient of the Goldman Prize for Africa. Nonhle will be with us for what will be a fascinating opportunity to hear about her activism and the challenges that they have overcome and those that they continue to face on the Wild Coast.

Nonhle Mbuthuma is an activist and farmer who fights for land and environmental rights. In 2007, Nonhle founded the Amadiba Crisis Committee (ACC) to unite community members in five villages of the Amadiba region to collectively oppose destructive mining projects. She serves as a crucial link between the indigenous community and the ACC’s legal team, which has acted against onshore mining, offshore seismic exploration, and advocates for self-determination and sustainable development.
