Africa Can't Wait, Interfaith Voices for Just Climate Action, Launches in Addis Ababa

Last night in Addis Ababa, on the sidelines of CCDA-XIV, Africa Can't Wait: Interfaith Voices for Just Climate Action was officially launched, an interfaith campaign uniting faith communities across the continent behind one demand: that climate commitments finally become climate action, delivered fairly, and delivered where it's needed most.

Our ask is simple. Implementation of climate finance, adaptation and just transition commitments must be:

1. Equitable: those least responsible for this crisis will not carry its heaviest costs.
2. Locally led: communities and faith actors belong at the centre, not the sidelines.
3. Rights-centred: protecting women, youth and indigenous communities, always.
4. Inclusive: faith groups, civil society and the private sector, all with a role to play.

Over the coming months, in the lead-up to COP31 and COP32, we'll be mobilising across four Action Tracks, climate finance, adaptation and resilience, renewable energy, and restoration, connecting evidence from the ground to the policy conversations shaping this moments.

This campaign is being carried forward by a growing coalition of interfaith partners, including ACT Alliance, Norwegian Church Aid's Advocacy Programme Africa, the All Africa Conference of Churches, GreenFaith Africa, the Laudato Si' Movement, EOC-DICAC, among many others across Africa's faith traditions, and we're proud to be building this alongside such a wide network of colleagues working towards climate justice.
