SAFCEI has released a statement opposing the proposed development of two giant data centres near Cape Town International Airport.
As a multifaith environmental justice organisation, we believe developments must prioritise people, the planet, and the common good over corporate interests.
At a time of growing climate risks, water scarcity, and housing shortages, we cannot support developments that place additional pressure on scarce resources while communities are excluded from meaningful public participation.
We call for transparent decision-making and development that advances environmental and social justice for all.
