URI Malawian CCs URI Malawian CCs planted almost 6450 trees 🌲 in 2020-2021 rain season in different areas. Through financial support from Southern African Faith Communities Environmental Institute (SAFCEI) Nkhata Bay CC, Wildlife and Natural Resources Conservation and Rehabilitation Trust (WNRCRT) CC, planted indeginous trees while Mangochi West CC, Kasinje CC and Chikwawa CC used their own contributions to plant Fruits and indeginous trees. Unlike other organizations, URI enhanced monitoring and evaluation systems to double screen the project as to make sure 90% of trees survive. This is on top of environmental management trainings to support community people to change mind set and challenge deforestation norms. The program left no stone unturned, politician, Faith leaders, Chiefs, community gatekeeper were involved at all levels. Much thanks to T/A Timbiri who offer himself to become environmental ambassador to support other bylaws that will discourage people's behavior of cutting trees carelessly.
