Urgent: Have Your Say on Eskom’s Proposed Coastal Nuclear Plants – Public Comment period Open

  • Published:

SAFCEI has learnt that Eskom is holding public meetings on the two proposed large-scale nuclear power plants on our coastline at Thyspunt in the Eastern Cape and Bantamsklip in the Western Cape.

The proposals raise serious questions about the well-being of our coastal ecosystems, the safety of communities, the cost of electricity, and pollution from radioactive waste that will impact generations to come.

The government has issued a notice regarding Eskom’s proposed up to 5200 MW Nuclear Power Plants. This is an important opportunity for our communities to participate in the Environmental Impact Assessment process and have our voices heard.

What you need to know:

  • The Public review period is from 1 April to 5 May on the Draft Scoping Report (DSR).
