The Southern African Faith Communities’ Environment Institute (SAFCEI) proudly participated in the 17th Annual Alternative Mining Indaba (AMI) at St. George’s Cathedral, showcasing our No Faith in False Solutions Campaign through an exhibition and World Cafe discussions that highlighted the work of faith leaders and green champions in Saldanha and Worcester.
Participants explored five major false solutions—oil and gas expansion, nuclear energy and uranium mining, extraction of critical minerals, industrial agriculture including AGRA and GMOs, and animal injustice and shared practical strategies for a just, inclusive, and sustainable transition, amplifying community-led solutions like agroecology and decentralised renewable energy while strengthening collective action to challenge corporate power and influence policy.
SAFCEI remains committed to fostering systemic change that puts people and the planet over profit, in collaboration with partners including the Economic Justice Network, African Climate Alliance, Project 90 by 2030, Social Change Assistance Trust, The Green Connection and the Heinrich Böll Foundation Read more
