SAFCEI Earthkeeper’s Day Webinar - 13 February 2026

  • Published:

Join us for a** webinar** ahead of Earthkeeper’s Day as we come together to celebrate our deep love for all of Creation. Earthkeeper’s Day emerged as a response to the growing commercialisation of Valentine’s Day, shifting the focus from individual love and consumerism to a shared appreciation for our planet and all living beings. Let’s come together in unity to honour and protect living Earth.

📆 Date: 13 February 2026

🕥 Time: 11:00 - 12:30 (SAST)

📹 Platform: Zoom

During the webinar, we will reflect on #EarthkeepersDay, highlight the inspiring initiatives led by Earthkeepers, and share updates on our advocacy campaigns.

Calling all Earthkeepers!

We invite faith leaders and community members to share their Earthkeeper’s Day actions. If you would like to present the initiatives or projects you are leading in your community, please email 3-5 PowerPoint slides to Olwethu Mbuthuma at olwethu@safcei.org.za. Everyone is welcome! Make sure to include your full name, organisation, faith community, a description of your activities, and any relevant pictures by Tuesday, 3 February 2026.

Presenters will be selected to ensure representation across faith traditions, gender, diverse initiatives, and countries within Southern Africa. Data will be provided for the presenters. Here are some ideas for initiatives you could present.

1. Community Projects

  • Photos or short videos of tree-planting events, clean-ups, or sustainable gardens.
  • Show before-and-after results to highlight the impact.

2. Faith-Based Environmental Actions

  • How your faith community integrates care for creation into teachings or sermons.
  • Stories of congregants taking action inspired by faith principles.

3. Youth-Led Initiatives

  • Workshops, campaigns, or school projects led by young people focused on conservation or climate awareness.
  • Creative ways youth are engaging their communities.

4. Advocacy & Awareness Campaigns

  • Campaigns your group has led to raise awareness about climate change, biodiversity, or plastic reduction.
  • Include social media posts, posters, or short videos.

5. Sustainable Practices in Daily Life

  • Eco-friendly practices like water conservation, composting, or renewable energy adoption. * Share simple tips that others can replicate.

5. Collaborative Initiatives Across Communities

  • Partnerships between faith groups, schools, or NGOs working together for environmental impact.

Take Action for Earth! All faith communities are encouraged to mark Earthkeeper’s Day through simple yet meaningful actions, such as:

  • Planting a tree
  • Picking up a bag of litter in your community
  • Taking a walk or hike in a forest or mountain

We look forward to your participation as we unite in love and responsibility for living Earth!
