Here are a number of ways in which you could get involved:
Support SAFCEI’s Anti-Nuclear campaign
Join a SAFCEI anti-nuclear vigil or start your own. The vigils are held every Wednesday morning from 7:30 – 9:00 outside Parliament in Cape Town and simultaneously outside the Department of Energy offices in Pretoria. For more information visit http://earthkeeper.org.za/events/nuclear-energy-nuke-vigil-2/ or contact Liz McDaid, SAFCEI’s energy and climate change consultant on email@example.com or Louisa firstname.lastname@example.org
If you can’t make it to the vigils, write a supporting message on a piece of paper and send us a photo of yourself with your message to add to our Digital #NukeVigil. Post it on Facebook or Twitter using #NukeVigil
As an organization we encourage the growth of a gift economy and would therefore also welcome contribution of your time and/or expertise. Does your organisation or place of worship have a space we might use for a workshop? Or could you offer the use of catering equipment or transport? Suggestions are welcome and any gift is gratefully received! You might also considering “paying-it-forward”, creating an opportunity for another faith community with less means.

“As well as showing your support for environmental education and action among faith communities, you will: receive the monthly Earth Keeper newsletter, receive annual updates about our work, an invitation to our AGM and notifications of any other special events.”
Members re-register annually, which is an opportunity to renew your personal commitment to earth keeping. Please note that only faith communities and faith-based organisations have voting rights at our AGM.
An eco-congregation is a local faith-based community (a congregation at a church, mosque, temple or synagogue…) that makes a commitment to live in greater harmony and omre sustainably on the earth, in response to the wisdom of sacred texts and faith traditions.
Organise an environmental audit of your place of worship and find out which kinds of practical actions you could be undertaking with your community to make a difference.
Write letters to your government and media
As people of faith we need to speak out for eco-justice. We encourage you to highlight environmental issues in the press and call in to your local radio stations to inform others of what’s happening. Call on local government leaders to be part of the change. Together we can work toward the wellbeing of people and planet.
Connect with other Earth Keepers on the Earth Keeper website (www.earthkeeper.org.za). It’s a space where you will find useful tools, tips and ideas. Read the inspiring stories of other Earth Keepers or share your own stories and ideas. Find out about exciting eco-events in your area or advertise your own.
