New resource links the (Christian) traditional Stations of the Cross to our torture of the Earth

Marilyn Aitken has produced suggestions for Stations of the Cross related to the way humans are betraying and 'crucifying' the Earth. Click here for her thought-provoking one-pager. Though written for Good Friday/Earth Day, this resource can be used in any reflective setting related to the environment, especially where people are familiar with the traditional Stations.

EARTH DAY - 22 APRIL (Good Friday)

We celebrate the 41^st anniversary of Earth Day in 2011. This day marks an opportunity for volunteers to initiate actions towards a sustainable future.

A note for Christian readers (from the Anglican Communion Environment Network): This year, Earth Day falls on Good Friday, which poses the question: How might the two events co-relate?  To this end we offer in PDF form a liturgy titled: CRUCIFIED EARTH, taken from HOLY GROUND: Liturgies and Worship Resources for the Environment, published by the Iona Community, 2000.
