Send a message to our government on Global Anti-Fracking day, September 22nd 2012, by joining other South Africans who are opposed to fracking, when they CALL FOR A PERMANENT BAN ON FRACKING in South Africa.
In Cape Town, we will meet in front of the gates of Parliament, corner of Plein Street and Roeland Street at 10h30. Bring your anti-fracking banners and posters! More information to follow later. The event is open to everyone and supported by several organisations, including Earthlife Africa, SAFCEI, SCLC, Climate Justice Campaign, TKAG and others.
More events might be happening elsewhere in the country on the same day – we will keep you updated! Please feel free to organise an event in your town and do let us know, so that we can support you. We will send out a coordinated press release of all events happening in SA.
22 Sept is the first real day of spring, the spring (vernal) equinox –
WHAT IF SOUTH AFRICA decided to make a NEW BEGINNING, to live in harmony with nature, to embrace a truly renewable, sustainable energy future, and not allow polluting industries to destroy our people’s land and scarce water resources for their corporate profit?
For more information on the Global Frackdown (a project of Food and Water Watch) please see http://www.globalfrackdown.org/activist-toolkit/, where you will also get ideas for staging an event in your town.
